Divinity Original Sin 2

I embarked on my adventure in Rivellon across two platforms, the Nintendo Switch and PC, and it was a tale that spanned over 200 hours. The portable version on the Switch, though graphically downgraded, surprised me with its adept controls, making it a viable choice for gaming on the go.

The pace of this game is measured, but it's also immensely entertaining. As a newcomer to this genre, I was initially overwhelmed by the plethora of options and tools at my disposal. It felt like a treasure trove of possibilities, and breaking free from the completionist mentality we've grown accustomed to in mainstream games was the key to unleashing the game's true enjoyment.

The journey begins in Chapter One, which serves as an excellent tutorial. It introduces you to the boundless freedom that this game thrives on. In essence, freedom is the lifeblood of Divinity: Original Sin 2, a promise that many RPGs make but few truly deliver on. Here, every choice you make resonates, shaping your path and the world around you.

The game's difficulty, set in classic mode, struck a perfect balance. With a multitude of options at my disposal, I never felt that it was too easy or too hard. Even the final showdown provided a challenging and satisfying climax to my epic adventure.

What makes Divinity: Original Sin 2 truly magical is its freedom. It's a promise fulfilled, where your choices matter. It's a game that invites replayability. I'm eagerly looking forward to a second playthrough, with different companions and choices, as I know I've only scratched the surface of what this world has to offer.

While the game's quality remains exceptional from start to finish, the last act was admittedly a challenge. Not due to any shortcomings, but after more than 170 hours of intense turn-based combat and unrelenting difficulty, a sense of genre fatigue set in. However, this doesn't diminish the overall experience, and it's a testament to the game's depth.

As I eagerly await my next Larian Studios adventure, Baldur's Gate 3, I've decided to give myself a few months to recover from genre fatigue. It's a testament to the quality of Divinity: Original Sin 2 that I'm eagerly anticipating my next journey, and I hope to dive into it with renewed enthusiasm. This game isn't just an adventure; it's an odyssey of freedom, choices, and endless possibilities.
